They fit well in regular supermarket shopping carts, but at Joann's, CVS, Michael's, Walgreens, and I am sure more, they have slightly smaller carts. The carseat will not fit entirely in the cart, nor does it balance safely and lock in if you use the cart's basket. What I have done is to put baby's carrier *sideways* across the top of the cart... and it snaps right in.
